Dr Julie Holland is a board-certified psychiatrist in New York City and author of Weekends at Bellevue: Nine Years on the Night Shift at the Psych ER. A liaison to the hospital’s medical emergency room and toxicology department, she is considered an expert on street drugs and intoxication states.

As an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Holland majored in the Biological Basis of Behavior, concentrating in psychopharmacology. She authored an extensive research paper on MDMA, resulting in multiple television appearances, forensic consultations, and a book, Ecstasy: The Complete Guide.

Since 1995, Julie has been an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the New York University School of Medicine. She is the medical monitor for two therapeutic studies (MDMA and cannabis) examining the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in veterans of the Iraq and Afghan wars. In addition to serving as a forensic consultant for homicide trials, Holland is a frequent lecturer, and has appeared as a drug and behavior expert on CNN, National Geographic Channel, Fox, VH1, MTV and Good Morning America. She is a regular guest on The Today Show and is in private practice in New York City.
