Beckley Foundation

The Beckley Foundation was founded in 1998 by
Amanda Feilding. It works in two complementary areas:
The Scientific Research of Psychedelics and Drug Policies.

Beckley Foundation

The Scientific Programme aims to increase our understanding of the functioning of the brain and consciousness. We use psychoactive substances as tools to alter brain activity. By investigating these changes with the latest brain-imaging technology we open up exciting new avenues of treatment for physical and mental conditions, and unveil the mechanisms by which psychedelics produce their profound effects.

The Policy Programme aims to reform national and international drug policies by promoting a rational, empirical approach. The Foundation advocates a move away from the current prohibitionist system– which causes devastating unintended consequences – towards health-oriented, harm-reducing, cost-effective policies that respect human rights.

The Beckley Foundation is a charity registered in the UK – No. SC033546. Since 2008, the Beckley Foundation functions also as an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, as well as being part of the Vienna NGO Committee on Narcotic Drugs.
