Ralph Metzner
“Psychedelics – they help people become aware of the
multidimensional nature of the universe and of themselves.
We’re talking about transformation at every level –
physical, emotional, mental, spiritual.”

Once a close collaborator of Timothy Leary and Richard ‘Ram Dass’ Alpert on the Harvard Psychedelic Projects, Ralph has been at the cutting edge of psychedelic-inspired consciousness research since his time at Oxford and Harvard. As well as being Professor Emeritus at the California Institute of Integral Studies, where he has taught courses on ‘Altered States of Consciousness’ and ‘Developing Ecological Consciousness’, Ralph also maintains a part-time psychotherapy practice, conducting workshops on consciousness transformation both nationally and internationally.
Ralph has co-written The Psychedelic Experience, edited The Psychedelic Review and pioneered Maps of Consciousness – one of the earliest attempts at a comparative cartography of consciousness. His other published books include The Well of Remembrance, The Unfolding Self, Green Psychology, and two edited collections on the science and the phenomenology of ayahuasca (Sacred Vine of Spirits) and teonanácatl (Sacred Mushroom of Visions). Ralph is also the President and Co-Founder of the Green Earth Foundation, dedicated to healing and harmonizing the relations between humanity and the Earth.
